Behind the Scenes : On the other side of the camera

Behind the Scenes : On the other side of the camera

I am so used to being on the Observing side of the camera, taking photos of my paintings and macro photos in nature. But, recently, I invited professional photographer, Carolyn Mendelsohn, into my studio to capture some portraits of me and my paintings, and the inspiration behind them.

We only meant to spend a couple of hours taking the photos, but ended up photographing inside my studio and outside in nature for about five hours. It was uncomfortable, at first, being Observed, but Carolyn had the knack for making me laugh and forget she had a camera in her hand, as it felt like we were just hanging out, having coffee and a catch-up together.

I wanted fresh photos for my website and marketing, magazine editorials, social media and such. Here are some of the results of that photo session.
