Sometimes, a painting will be happily progressing along, and then I hit a plateau with it, and have to set it aside for a while. Sometimes that “while” is a few days, but a lot of time, it is months. One of these paintings is in this video. I had added many layers and then gouged and sanded them back to expose the under-layers, and then the painting needed a rest. I came back to it, and started adding metallic and darker colours, to smooth the edges.
