In this video, I am working on a grid of nine paintings. This was filmed in about the middle of the painting process, and is during the phase of adding more and more layers. Some of these layers get scraped back, or sandpapered, and most will eventually get covered up in the end, but they are all part of the history of the painting.
The little book I have open on the side, where I spread the excess of paint from my brush is called the "sidekick". This is a term I learned during a painting class with Orly Avineri. She suggested wiping your excess paint into an old book which then you can repurpose into collage papers for your paintings...brilliant!
