This made me wince

This made me wince

"Dear Applicant..." the email started, and my heart sank. I had recently applied to a prestigious (for me) art exhibition, and had been anticipating an email as to whether I had been accepted.

The email continued, "...we are excited to announce your acceptance into the group exhibition...."

Wait, what?!

How many times had I diligently researched the owner's name for galleries I contacted? How many times had I read that you should always address your email to an actual person when communicating with a gallery? And yet, this gallery didn't take the time to find out my name, even when I was going to be part of their next exhibition?

Red flag? Turns out yes, it was.

Maybe I'm pedantic, (well, yes, I am pedantic) but what happened to manners? If I get excited about applying to an exhibition, you'd better believe I use my letter-writing manners. But, if that curator can't return the favour, it makes me wonder what else they will lose in the process of putting on the exhibition.

I reluctantly sent my regrets and moved on.

If you appreciate good manners too, and want to find my artwork in galleries I'm excited to be showing in, head on over to my Exhibitions page.
